Middle-Earth Constructions

Phil and Sue Hart started Middle Earth Constructions in the early 1980s, and within a few years it had become the biggest and most respected mud-brick home construction business in Tasmania.

Throughout the 1990's Middle Earth expanded to include commercial construction projects and began including other sustainable construction materials. It soon became a leader within the state in the construction of ultra-insulated, solar-passive homes, embracing straw bales in particular as a wonderful natural material that produced warm, comfortable, and beautiful homes.

Over the years Middle Earth has built, or helped to build, over one hundred sustainable homes throughout Tasmania (and one in Victoria), principally from straw bales, as well as others that utilise different technologies such as mud-brick, timber cladding, and hebel panels.
