Cherrybrook Transport Pty Ltd is a leading boutique transport and logistics company which started in 1979 when Michael Christou, the founder and Director set up his own transport business.

Michael’s passion for trucks began with his father who in 1970 started a lengthy career as a sub-contractor for Kwikasair. At a young age, Michael would go to work with his dad every school holidays helping him with his parcel deliveries.

When Michael completed his Higher School Certificate (HSC), he was heading to Sydney University to study a Bachelor of Education, however, inspired by his admiration of the freight industry, Michael decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining him at Kwikasair as a sub-contractor.

Having completed a Diploma in Transport and Logistics, Michael then worked in key roles for various transport companies as a State Operations Manager, National Operations Manager and a Senior Delegate working with the TWU, gaining invaluable perspective across all levels of the transport industry.

Michaels extensive knowledge and experience in transport along with his strong professional relationships has given him an overall unique edge and the ability to provide versatility.

In 2013, Cherrybrook Transport expanded its business network with the acquisition of K&A Jortikka Freighters, currently known as Jortikka Freighters in order to streamline a growing demand for customer’s needs.

Since then, the business has expanded to larger premises in Somersby offering a new modern and secure state-of-the-art warehouse facility which is a game changer for the business providing a “ONE-STOP-SHOP” solution.

As a family-owned and operated boutique business, Michael believes mixing family keeps a perfect balance. His wife Stella, is an integral part of the team overseeing every aspect of the business from the ground up, along with his father who at the age of 89 still plays an active role.
