JHC Quarries

JHC Quarries is a family owned business founded by Jack Cuthbertson a renowned businessman in the saw milling and Dairy farming industries for over 60 years.

The first, a shallow extraction on the site was for cowlane material in 1978. 1984 saw the first crusher, the work authority was granted in 1991, this allowed the supply of base course and fill.

Several upgrades since then and the plant can now crush 200 tonne per hour and is capable of crushing all grades of rock.

Cow lanes are a specialty product, the mudstone layer in the quarry is particularly suited to this purpose.

Jack’s son Peter has taken the quarry to the next level and this new work plan has seen new harder grade rock exposed. We can offer a variety of rock for many different applications.

Peter and his team have decades of experience to help you with all of you rock needs, no matter the project.

Building a road, laying a driveway, filling a trench or even building a retaining wall our team can help advise you on the exact product to suit your needs.

Our stone has excellent retention – the benefit is it does not easily pothole.
