Clare Quarry

Clare Quarry is a family-owned business operated by the Schmidt family, with a proud history dating back to 1961 when Walter and Trevor Schmidt established Spalding Earthmovers. Originally operating a mobile crusher, they supplied aggregates for grain silos across South Australia’s Mid North. In 1971, the family purchased the Clare Council Quarry in Clare, providing building and roadway materials to the local region. As demand grew, a larger crushing plant was commissioned in 1984, tripling production capacity. In 1992, Clare Quarry expanded further with the opening of Spalding Quarry, a dolomite quarry producing high-quality stone. Today, Clare Quarry utilises a Quality Assurance System and efficient processes to supply road building and sealing aggregates to Northern and Eastern South Australia. The company combines decades of experience, local expertise, and a commitment to quality to remain a trusted supplier in the industry.
