Bluewater Palms

Bluewater Palms owner, Valerie, began her business with a letter-writing campaign in the late 1980s. A member of the International Palm Society, she contacted forestry departments, botanical gardens and even private collectors around the world for seeds to build up what is now one of the most extensive collections of palms in North Queensland.

She planted many of the seeds and they grew into the basis of her nursery, Bluewater Palmetum. Those plants have continued to produce the seeds for her business, which has helped enhance home gardens for more than 35 years.

Are you planning a new garden or wish to augment your existing garden? Planting a variety of advanced palms of 2-3 metres or more will add to the value of your home.

They will give you more shade and create a tropical environment sooner. They will also reduce grass space and create a garden for birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife.

All of my visitors and clients say they would like a garden like mine. I can advise you on what palms are suitable from our selection of more than 50 species.

Our palms come in 10” & 12” pots or 25L, 35L, 45L and larger bags up to 100L. We also have a range of rare and understory palms in our shade-house.
