  • Mini Excavators – Usually between 1 tonne and 5 tonne, mini excavators are great for residential jobs, small commercial jobs, landscaping & trenching.
  • Civil-sized Excavators – Usually between 5 tonne and 30 tonne in operating weight, civil-sized excavators are higher spec, come with a wide range of attachments and often have machine control fitted to them.
  • Heavy Duty Mine Spec Excavators – Excavators over 30 tonne tend to be mine spec (but not always), which includes additional safety features and heavy-duty attachments.

Various excavator sizes available for hire in Brisbane

Our supplier’s excavators range from micro size (1 tonne) to over 200 tonnes, however there are some popular and common sizes that you can hire in Brisbane from a range of sizes due to their broad application on a range of site types.

Choose from a popular list of excavator sizes:

  • 1 tonne excavator – is a typical micro excavator, mostly found digging down the side of a house
  • 5 tonne excavator – a mini excavator, great for tight access work on civil or residential sites.
  • 10 tonne excavator – is the bottom of the civil sized bracket, but the top of the compact excavator class.
  • 14 tonne excavator – this is the most common small civil sized excavator and the most plentiful sized excavator available for hire in Brisbane. Big enough to work on the big jobs but small enough to get on a residential job.
  • 20 tonne excavator – now we’re in the civil sized territory. Many of the modern excavators of this size have the newest onboard technology, including some element of machine control & telematics.
  • 30 tonne excavator – is usually deployed to big civil tasks, such as rock-breaking, tunnelling or pipelaying in the LNG space (just a few examples).
  • 50 tonne excavator – rarely seen in metro work, but used for big mass haul jobs or bulk earthworks projects where massive amounts of dirt need to be moved.

Excavator attachments

Excavators are the most popular construction machine on the market due to the enormous range of attachments that can be affixed on the boom. There are over 40 attachments you can refine your search to include on iseekplant.

Wet and dry excavator hire available

When searching above, or posting a job through our Get a Quote tool, make sure to specify if you need wet or dry hire specifically, or let the suppliers know that you’re happy to hire on either basis. Wet hire is substantially more expensive than dry hire, and more complicated to coordinate.
