About

WELCOME!

Adelaide Brush Fencing is the local installer for Ausbrush 'never sag' brush fencing panel systems.

Brush fencing, also known as brushwood, broom, broombush or brushbox, originated in South Australia over 100 years ago. From Adelaide, brush fencing spread to the other Australian mainland capitals from the 1970's and is now a widely used and popular fencing choice right across Australia.

Founded by Hague Showell in 1991 as Adelaide Brush Repairs, Adelaide Brush Fencing has built a peerless reputation over a 25 year period in the Adelaide region, for quality new and repair brush fencing work using traditional hand packing methods and latterly using more modern and durable machine compressed panels and modular installation techniques. In 1998 Adelaide Brush launched the first brush fencing website in Australia and included details of repair and installation methods as well as recording the history of brush fencing. The history and images as recorded then, can be found here.

ADELAIDE BRUSH

Founded by Hague Showell in 1991 as Adelaide Brush Repairs, Adelaide Brush Fencing has built a peerless reputation over a 20 year period in the Adelaide region, for quality new and repair brush fencing work using traditional hand packing methods and latterly using more modern and durable machine compressed panels and modular installation techniques. In 1998 Adelaide Brush launched the first brush fencing website in Australia and included details of repair and installation methods as well as recording the history of brush fencing. The history and images as recorded then are now included at this page.

In 1999 Hague could see that the environmental future lay with plantation brush and more durable 'never sag' machine compressed brush fencing panels and formed a new business Ausbrush to develop these concepts for the Australian market.

Adelaide Brush now sources 100% of its brush panels supplies from WA plantation brush.

Adelaide Brush Fencing has carried on its tradition of high quality installation and repair work here in Adelaide using the new sustainable and environmentally friendly 'never sag' machine compressed brush fencing panels and modern modular installation techniques. Adelaide Brush now has several installation crews working under the Ausbrush banner, providing the first truly professional metro-wide service in this industry here in Adelaide and also services regional South Australia.

Brush fencing also known as brushwood, broom, broombush or brushbox originated in South Australia over 100 years ago and a brief history of its Adelaide origins can be found on this page. From Adelaide, brush fencing spread to the other Australian mainland capitals from the 1970's and is now a widely used and popular fencing choice right across Australia, where a natural looking and cost effective feature fence or screen is wanted. Whilst brush fencing is now mostly described interstate as "brushwood fencing", it is also described in the other States as "Adelaide brush fencing" alluding to it's origins here. Brush fencing is made from Melaleuca uncinata, an Australian native lignotuber which is found naturally occurring over vast areas of Australia. Brush comprises many different naturally occurring provenances of Melaleuca and the colour of the bark varies from a light grey to black, 'mottly' grey-black and red colourings.

Brush is a very hardy plant, salt resistant and grows well on a range of soil types, making it an ideal selection for soil rehabilitation and carbon credit projects. The species grows best in areas where the groundwater table is high and in the higher rainfall areas, although it will survive well in the lower rainfall areas such as the Murray Mallee. The lifespan of the cut brush when packed in a fencing panel is long, maintenance is low, and it has white-ant resistant and thermal qualities. Brush fencing is an environmentally friendly fencing product as it requires little secondary processing or energy use to prepare, is a renewable resource and being cut from a lignotuber can be recut many times from the original bush. It is used extensively in Western Australia in land rehabilitation products and the plantation industry initiatives are supported by the WA Government and Avon Region authorities.

When looking for a natural and effective method to beautify any surrounds or for a landscaping project or privacy fence screen, Ausbrush machine compressed brush fencing panels used by Adelaide Brush Fencing for its Adelaide installations are the ideal choice. Brush is of natural look and neutral colouring, which blends well with garden beds and man-made structures and in addition brush fencing also has noise and thermal attenuation properties, ideal for cutting unwanted road noise and in protecting adjoining plant beds from the hot northerly sun.

Typical uses for brush fencing include; fences, dividers, privacy fence screens, partitions, service enclosures - (such as rubbish, / trash, pool pump, golf course service yards, car park enclosures), windbreaks, temporary event screening, tourist resort screening, screening of building extensions and service yards, thatch hut roofing and pergola and shadehouse roofing, patio and swimming pool surrounds, water features, equestrian horse jumps, aviaries, bird feeders, topiary (emus and kangaroos), garden borders and as a replacement for wood fencing, bamboo fencing, picket fencing, pvc fencing, iron and colorbond fencing. It is also very versatile in that it can be used on sloping sites and can be tapered, scalloped and blended into structures (profiled pillars and tree trunks) and cut over uneven bases and walls.

For the past ten years sister company Ausbrush Panels has been working towards a future involving machine harvested plantation brush, machine manufacture of brush fencing panels, modular panel installation systems and development of world-wide markets for Australian brush fencing and screening products. The year 2012 is a landmark year and now all Ausbrush brush fencing panel products are derived from plantations rather than natural stands.

In 2015 a new company, Adelaide Brush Pty Ltd Limited was formed to include sub contract crews as shareholders and Sam Showell was appointed to run day to day operations.

Directors of the company are Hague and Sam Showell, and Jon DelGiacco.

Please do not hesitate to contact Sam Showell at Adelaide Brush Fencing/Ausbrush Panels if you would like to discuss design ideas for your brush garden border, swimming pool surrounds, internal divider, brush screening, privacy fence screen, replacement of your timber fence, shade house roof or front feature fence etc or would like to order materials for your DIY project.

Adelaide Brush Fencing services the Adelaide region as part of the Ausbrush group and carries on a tradition of more than 20 years of professional service to South Australia, providing top quality workmanship and reliable, friendly staff.
